The SAP software implementation is one of the most challenging spanning eight different countries world wide, with a combination of high-level functionality and high availability.

Anix was chosen as infrastructure partner because of its proven track record in delivering High Availability UNIX solutions and its experience of being involved in highly complex SAP implementations.

The hardware set-up comprises of IBM pSeries servers with HACMP (High Availability Clustered Multi-Processing) software, IBM Enterprise Storage Servers and an in-house disaster recovery solution running across two sites in the North East of England. Huntsman Tioxide has also purchased xSeries Intel-based Servers running Windows 2000 to support less mission-critical components of its business operations.

As part of a phased implementation programme, the company has already gone live in the UK, France, Germany and the USA, with Spain, Italy, Malaysia and South Africa all scheduled to go live by the end of the year. When the roll-out of the systems is completed there will be 2500 users in total.

Stephen Brown, IT Operations Manager, at Huntsman Tioxide, says, ???In order to maximise our investment in SAP, we needed a reliable server platform and specialist skills. Anix consultants have excellent hardware knowledge and experience of building infrastructure to support SAP systems.??

He continues, ???IBM has established a proven track record over many years in providing leading-edge hardware architecture so they were the obvious choice for us. IBMs reputation in the storage market was also vital since the sheer volume of data within a company such as ours meant that storage capacity was absolutely critical.??

He concludes, ???Anix has delivered against all of their promises on time and to budget. The Servers were on site within two weeks of us placing the order with Anix which was excellent, whilst the installation of the systems is on schedule. The 24×7 support which we now have from Anix means that we have a lot of confidence in the ongoing maintenance of our business-critical systems.??
